Friday 25th September, 2009: The Under-10s Abu Dhabi Harlequins Junior Rugby Squad played an Exhibition Match at the Al Ghazal Golf Club, Abu Dhabi.
The Harlequins hosted a rare double-header for the 2009/2010 season that saw both senior squads playing at home. Playing in front of a home crowd of over 350 supporters, the U10 squads took to the field before the Mens 1st XV took on the mighty Dubai Exiles.
With only 2 training sessions under their belts this season, the U10 players did themselves proud with a great display of hard and fast, attacking rugby. One onlooker remarked; ‘They played very well and it was fun to watch the kids play with such passion.’
The crowd were treated to a horde of tries from Callum Anderson, Boris Kovacevic and debutant Sam Relton.
The U10 players formed a tunnel on to the pitch where the mens 1st XV ran out led by head coach and captain, Alistair Thompson, with match mascot, Matt Greene. The Arabian Gulf PREMIERSHIP defending champions, the Abu Dhabi Harlequins, went out to continue their unbeaten start to the season with the demolition of a Dubai Exiles side to record a comprehensive 28-7 win.
