U12s ADHRC V Sharjah Wanderers – Fri 23rd Oct 09 (Home) 23/10/09

U10s Exhibition Match 25/09/09

Friday 23rd October, 2009: MATCH REPORT

ADHRC V Sharjah Wanderers – Fri 23rd Oct 09 (Home)

A squad of 18 boys and girls were raring to go for the 1st league game of the season. We had already trimmed the squad as Sharjah informed us they could only play 12 a side, they subsequently turned up with 10 players. My first thank you is to the ADHRC players who volunteered to make the Sharjah numbers up, that made it a competitive game. The game was cut short by the referee (Jerry) as the mercy rule came into play. The first half was cut short to 18 minutes from a planned 20 minute half. The second half was also cut short after 60 points were scored. The game had continued after the Sharjah Coach had confirmed that he was happy to give his players more playing time, and we obliged.
The final Score was 60 – 0 in favour of ADHRC.

Forwards – Our forwards were too powerful for Sharjah in all areas. The resistance provided by Sharjah was weak and fragmented; this allowed our pack to communicate well and provide controlled ball for the backs. They were supremely dominant and there were a number of excellent individual performances, particularly the Pack Leader Thomas Mason and Harry Seward with a hat-trick of tries.

Backs – Our Backs, similarly, were much too powerful for the opposition. The Team Captain, Fraser March (hat-trick), much like Thomas led by example, tackling hard and providing the initial penetration that was then capitalised on by the remaining backs. Some very good work displayed by the Backs, putting to good use the possession provided by the forwards.
Summary – This was an excellent first outing for this year’s U12s; overall dominance of the game in all areas set a platform that created good opportunities to put into practice, both individual and collective drills, and served to instil confidence in the players. Coaching staff are very pleased with progress so far, including those individuals who were not selected for this trimmed squad. We will endeavour to push for 15 a side games where possible.

Scorers:
a. Daniel Alonso - 1
b. Fraser March - 4
c. Cameron Bunch - 1
d. Harry Seward - 3
e. Chris Blackburn - 1
f. Jacob Van Der Spuy - 1
g. Thomas Mason - 1
My thanks to all concerned, Players, Parents & Coaches, in particular to Jerry for refereeing the game in a non bias manner.

Look Forward – Al Ain Sevens Competition – 6th/7th Nov 09 at Al Ain.
