News for the 2011/2012 Season
New Committee Members Announced – Andy Cole is the New Chairman, Renier Els is the new Club Captain, Ben Crompton is the New Membership Secretary, Clare Shrayne is the new Medical Officer and Dave Stolzenberg is the new Commercial manager.
Welcome Back Evening Date Confirmed – Training for the Junior Section and the Welcome Back evening will commence on 15th September.
Junior Rugby Tournament Dates Confirmed - The Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Harlequins Junior Rugby Tournament is scheduled for 28th & 29th October at Zayed Sports City. This events kicks off the Gulf Junior Rugby Tournament series which will include events hosted by Al Ain; Dubai Exiles, Hurricanes and Knights; Sharjah Wanderers; Bahrain RC and Doha RC. The UAE RA Clubs League will commence on 30th September and continue through April 2012; this will be for U10, U11, U12, U14, U16, U18 and U18 girls touch rugby.
2011/2012 Coaching Courses - The UAE Rugby Association will be running some IRB Level 1 and 2 coaching courses at the start of next season at Zayed Sports City. Level 1 will be on Saturday September 17th running for 6 – 8 hours and the cost will be AED 500.00
The Level 2 course will be over 23rd & 24th September and the cost will be AED 1,500.00 which will include all the follow up work, coaching material & assessments. We would expect all lead coaches of age groups to have the Level 1 accreditation and working towards Level 2. Contact juniormanager@abudhabiquins.com if you’re interested.
