The Game
The object of the game is for each team to score touchdowns and to prevent the opposition from scoring.
A touchdown = one point (male player), two points ( female player).
The ball maybe handed, passed or knocked between onside players of the attacking team who may in turn run or move with the ball in an attempt to gain territorial advantage and/or score. The ball may not be kicked.
Defending players prevent the attacking team from gaining a territorial advantage by making a touch.
Start of the Game
A coin toss is done and the winning captain starts with the ball and chooses their direction of play. The game starts with a tap from the middle of the field: the defending team must be back 10meters for the start of play and after each touchdown.
Duration of the Game
Two 20 minute halves. Small break in between to indicate half time.
Size of the Field
The playing field is half the size of an international standard rugby field.
Number of Players
Teams can consist up to a maximum of 12 players, six (6) on the field at anyone time. It’s a mixed competition; each team must have a minimum of one (1) female player on the pitch at all times (f not they play with five (5) players). In the case of a finals game if a team does not have any female players, they play with four (4).
Minimum of four (4) players required on the field at all times to avoid forfeit.
Method of Scoring
A touchdown is scored by grounding the ball on or over the defending team’s tryline.
