
Abu Dhabi Ladies had their first tournament on Friday 8th October at the Dubai 7's ground. The first pool game was played against the reigning league champions the Dubai Hurricanes. The first half was typified by a good defensive line from Abu, who played virtually the entire half without the ball. The Hurricanes attacked well and scored three tries in the half despite good work around the tackle from the Ladies from the Capital. The second half saw Abu have more possession, running some good lines. Good clean ball to Helen Martin hit Kellyann Davey who stepped inside past two defenders then with great support from Tiffany Allard, Davey popped the ball for Allard to go over and score. Final score 5-29 to Dubai Hurriacnes.
The second pool game was against Doha Trojans, where Abu had lots of attacking play, with good hands and good support. Big hits were made by Lauren Sargent in the forwards. Four tries came from Kellyann Davey and three from Tiffany Allard. Jill Oliver slotted over two conversions. Overall some excellent team play from Abu meant the final score 39-0 was well deserved.
Abu Dhabi finished second in the pool, which resulted in them playing for 3rd position in their final game against Sharjah. Sharjah were very strong and attacked straight from the start leaving Abu on the defence once agian. Abu never had chance to come back, resulting in the final score being 40-0 to Sharjah. Abu Dhabi Ladies play their next tournament on October 22nd in Doha.
